Sorry for the light glare at the top of the picture....this is a punch organizer that my Dad made for me.....I love it. I currently holds all my SU punches and all my Big Shot stuff. Absolutely great as it's now all at my fingertips.

Flocked Treasure

Seems like forever since I was here to post, so sorry for that ..... but I have lots to share over the next few days.

Our demo group was having a Yankee swap of hand made 3D items for our Christmas get -together( it was so yummy....Turkey, Ham and all the trimmings) the Yankee awap was fun too!

This is the project I took to swap....

I had picked up this cute wooden box at a local dollar store and knew I would use it some day, so.......

I used the Flocked red paper from the Christmas Cocoa DSP pkg and covered it. It was very easy to do; cutting the DSP the same width as the box and wrapping it around, adhering it with Tombow multi purpose adhesive. Then I thought to sponge the edges with Real Red ink. Next I used my crop-a-dile and punch three holes through the DSP exactly where the elastic cord and wooden knob/button was on the original box. Next I inserted three red circle fire brads into the holes. I needed to create a fastener for the flapof the box so I took the metallic elastic cord from the Mini catalogue and crocheted a silver chain. I tied the ends to the two brads on the bottom side of the box and stretched it up and over the brad on the top, perfect!

On the inside of the box I lined it with the striped DSP from the same Christmas Cocoa pkg.

The treasure on the inside is a "Washer Necklace/pendant" created using the same DSP's and Crystal Effects. It was really beautiful, if I do say so myself. It was reversable with the Flocked paper on one side and..........

The striped paper on the back; the satin cording is just looped around the washer so it can be easily reversed.

To create the pendant I went to the hardware store and purchased several washers, very inexpensively. At home I matched up the SU circle punches with the washers and punched the shapes from the DSP. These were adhered to the washer using a small amt of Crystal Effects; and when dry I used a sanding block and sanded the edges. The centre was sanded with a small metal file I have for putting DSP onto intricate chipboard cutouts. Once I was happy with this I placed the washer on a cutting mat and applied a thick layer of Crystal Effects, let dry over night or longer and then turned it over and applied it to the back side of the washer. Let dry again for a good 12-24 hrs. I went back and applied another coat of the crystal effects to both sides because I really wanted it to have a bevelled, rounded facade. After I was sure it was dry and hard, 2 days later I took a length of satin cord and looped it through the washer and just tied it in a knot at the ends.

Once I was ready to pkg the jewel I took a piece of Real Red CS and scored it on all sides then cut diagonal slits in the upper corners and punched 1/8th inch holes at the end of the slits for the cording to it in them and inserted it into the box.

Next I decided it didn't need to be wrapped so I made a tag from the Christmas punch set and tied it onto the pkg after wrapping it with a white organza ribbon and bow from SU.

I think it was a hit! .

Wings of Friendship Note cards gift pack

This cute little note card set was from our summer Upline meeting, it showcases the new In- colors and is also a great gift for someone special. We used the In-Color Stampin'write markers to color the stamp( from Wings of Friendship, a hostess set in the Idea Book and Catalogue) and the stamped the image on the circle of Whisper white CS they were then adhered to a 6"x3" piece of In-color CS scored at 3" with a small coordinating piece of In-color ribbon behind it. These were placed in a clear envelope along with envelopes. The envelpoe was adhered to a piece of In-color CS 4"x6" or so that has been scored and folded at 2"on one end and then scalloped. We then tied it closed with a piece of Ic-Color polkadotted ribbon for a cute and very easy gift.

Bag in a box

I think this is what these are called....I love the look of them and they are so cute for small gifts or candy. They are created from a small box on the bottom the distance around should be around 11.5 inches total so you have a 1/2 inch overlap. You then take a 12x8-9 inch piece of DSP and wrap around the box lining it up at the bottom. I then took a strip of cardstock and used the border punches to create a decorative strip and again lined it up along the bottom of the box and wrapped it around the DSP(I like the narrower border better than the wider one). Punch out 2 round tab punches and fold in the center the place centrally on either side of the bag top to create a holder for the ribbon; try to align these so they are opposite each other. Punch a 1/4 inch hole just below the fold in each tab punch and thread a matching ribbon through and tie.
Decorate the bag as you would like. This worked up really quick once I decided on the DSP and color combo.
We're still under construction so I can't find anything...it all seems to get piled on my work table and then when I do get time to play I have to organize, soon to be done I hope.

Seasonal Baskets

I can't beleive this week has flown by so fast, I don't know where it went. We've been in the middle of having new windows and a couple of patio doors put in as well as having the house insulated and new siding so have been very busy.Of course there are always glitches....the sills under the back part of the house were rotting when they removed the siding so they had to be replaced, this meant the deck at the back had to be partially removed...ugh!! Oh well it'll soon be done and we'll have a lovely warm "new" house this winter.

The picture above is of a few baskets I made from 12x12 DSP( , you score each side at 4 inches and cut into the score line on two sides at the 4 and 8 inch score lines. The handle is made from a 1.5 x12 inch piece of DSP that has been punched with the eyelet border punch on both of the long sides. the fold up the two cut squares to meet half way into the middle square. These are secured with a brad through all layers and the handle as well. It takes about 5-10 minutes to make start to finish and it's really cute. These are great for holding candy, treats or light weight articles. They can be made smaller by usung paper 9x9 and scoring 3 inches on all sides or even 6x6 scoring 2 inches on each side. Happy Halloween!

BOO!
This cute little treat box was so easy to create with my Big Shot and the Matchbox BigZ XL die. It's not my idea, but was cased from a website; not sure whose. I'll be more than happy to give credit to that person if you know who it is.
First I stamped the Boo onto a piece of vellum in Basic Black ink and set it aside to dry, this took longer than making the whole project. I made the matchbox using the tangerine Tango from last year's In-Colors collection, then I punched a 1 3/8" circle from the front of the cover. Next take a scrap of basic Black cardstock and punch a 1 3/8" circle from it, then use the scalloped circle punch to punch around the circle cut-out creating a scalloped frame in black. This you adhere to the front of the matchbox cover to fit around the hole you've already punched. When the ink is dry adhere the vellum to the backside of the matchbox cover so it can be seen in the hole on the front. Complete the assembly of the cover and fill with goodies.
I sent this one to my granddaughter Mia with nuggets in it.

Tags, Tags, Tags....

I had a great time stamping and punching these tags; there must be 50+ in this little box. The box I made following this tutorial: http://valeriestangle.blogspot.com/2009/07/whispy-blooms-tag-box.html I used Chocolate Chip SU cardstock. It went together very easily. I then stamped and punched and stamped and punched...tied it up with a bright red ribbon and ... Voila! it'll make a lovely gift for someone.

Mia's Punch Buggy

This was a Father's day card my 4 year old grand daughter made for her Grampie, when she was visiting in June.
I was going through some things the other day and came across it, so I thought I would share. She has a game she plays with Volkswagon Beetles, she punches you in the arm when she sees one and yells "Punch Buggy", she giggled the whole time we were making this. She chose the colors and paper from my scraps and stash. We used SU circle punches as well as misc punches I have in my craft area.

Thin Tin and Decor Elements

I was looking for a way to show off the Decor Elements when my order from Stampin'Up arrived with the Sale/retired items. This tin seemed to fit the bill. I used the elements from the Demo's bulk buy program and applied them to the thin tin. I then used the Whisper White Rub-ons(Autumn Harvest) and placed them on the tin.......worked wonderfully. Nugget Purse

I used the Christmas Cocoa DSP, it was really cute to see them all around the tables. The flap of the purse is made with the Tag punch, the 1/2 inch circle punch and a silver brad.

Pumpkin Name tags

I had a Christmas Card bonanza; card making class just before we left on our trip and we had a great time creating 30 cards and envelopes as well as a box to store them in. These were created from one half of the Christmas Jingle Simply Scrapping kit in the 2009-2010 Idea book from Stampin'Up. This was totally cased from a fellow demonstrator Blaise Hoopes. I had 11 ladies and we had a great time. I created a nametag for each lady who was coming,,,,,,,they were thrilled to be able to keep them.I used name tags from a local dollar store for the base, inserted a piece of striped DSP( Autumn Meadows from the holiday mini catalogue) for a background then created pumpkins from Stampin'Up Oval punches. I used my Big Shot Naturally Serif die to cut the letters for their names, punched a small leaf/fern shape from my collection of punches for the stem and then curled a couple of thin strips of card stock around a paint brush handle for the vines. This one was mine....

Home Again and finally caught up....somewhat.

Well we got home last Sunday afternoon but have spent the last week just catching up with work and everything else that needed attention. We had a great "drive to nowhere"....we get in the car and just drive until we decide to stop. We don't make any concrete plans and stay off the highways as much as possible. We headed south to the North Eastern US and had a great scenic drive along the coast of Maine and Massachusetts. We did some shopping but mostly just driving and seeing the lovely leaves and small towns. We have decided that every town in these areas have a town square/rotary and a town dam.

Now, over the next few days, I've got some pictures of some projects that I had done before we left but never got them posted.

Behind/on Vacation!

I've fallen behind with my posting this week as I got ready for my Christmas card bonanza class. It was last night ans we had a great time......11 ladies, 3 of them crafting virgins(lol) I'm off tomorrow on vacation so will not be posting for a week or so but will get back to things as soon as I'm home.

Razzle Berry Upsy Daisy

I made this card packet and birthday card for a gift, I was so pleased with the colors and the outcomes. The card holder is just a piece of 81/2"x11" cardstock scored and folded to fit the cards, I then punched holes on each side of the cards and wove the ribbon through to hold the cards in place, simple but effective. It holds 8 different cards and envelopes for all occasions. My inspiration was the colors in the DSP.

Two more cards with little stamping save for the sentiments. One has been stamped with Versamark for a tone-on-tone look.

Upsy Daisy, I tried the shadow effect, by lifting the stamp slightly and restamping without re-inking.

Colors throughout are Rich Razzleberry, Melon Mambo and Crushed Curry. I love these together!

One thing I found out while doing this set....
SU Whisper White is FAR superior to other brands. I had some precut and scrap pieces that I used for all the cards but the one with the Melon Mambo Razzle Dazzle stamp, in the third picture, I couldn't get a solid image and was very frustrated with the results; I've since discarded all my scraps that are not SU Whisper White. May as well use the best and be happy with the results.
