Regionals!

Well I have to say "I had a blast!" I got to meet Shelli Gardner the co-founder of Stampin'Up and she is wonderful as expected. The day went by in a flash. There were many topics discussed during the day, all were very interesting and helpful. I was fun to see that the so called experts had trouble with some technical things as well. ie: forgot some suppliies so we had to imagine, an iron didn't work so "by the magic of TV" or similar. LOL it really was a fun day.
The Friday night Pre-regionals get together was the best though.....we played games, did a shoebox swap "Heather style" and there were many prizes. I won the tooth fairy stamp in a small little pennant bag made from the new fabric in the Holiday mini catalogue.
When I got to the hotel in Hamilton I had planned to post my swap for regionals but there was no wireless access unless you went to a certain area in the hotel. This always makes me laugh because I can stay in really cheap chain hotels and have wireless access from our room but the major expensive hotels don't have it they want you to pay MORE money for this. I'm too stubborn to do this. Thus said, I didn't get my swap posted then so.......here it is now:

It may look familiar as it is very similar to a previous post...

http://papercraftsloveaffair.blogspot.com/2010/02/heart-of-hearts-card-from-error.html

I used the same supplies though the red is now Poppy Parade and the ribbon is the new 1/8th inch Black taffeta. The sentiment is from Just Believe and as you can see rather than using the hearts I used the tag punches.
This was very fun to do and when I get a few minutes I will get some pictures posted of the swaps I received at regionals as well. I highly recommend everyone going if you have one scheduled any where close to you.

Hamilton Regional bound!! So excited!

Well this afternoon I leave for Hamilton to attend the regional meeting there on Saturday and Friday evening I will be attending the Pre-Regionals Stamping event hosted by Heather Summers. I have taken many of her on-line classes and can't wait to actually meet her. You can find her blog here:

http://stampwithheather.typepad.com/stamp_with_heather/

Check it out you will love it. She is a top Canadian Stampin'Up demo.
For this event there will be all kind of activities, games, prizes, lots of fun but a shoebox swap is the first thing we will be doing. If we wanted to participate we had to design and create a card and put together the makings for 5 more cards, it had to be doable in 10 minutes; what a challenge!
This is the card I will be using for my shoebox swap:
It is a red version of my card I posted here:
I used the Jolly Holiday DSP and the Bright Christmas stamp set and also the 3 snowflake stamp that is in the set Serene Snowflakes. The ink is Blushing Bride and Cherry Cobbler. The die cuts are the #2 Snowflake Big Shot die and the new Northern Frost decorative strip in Very Vanilla cardstock.
The brad is a Blushing Bride Glimmer brads in the In-Color pkg. The sentiment is based on a shortened scalloped square from the new square duo die in the Holiday mini catalogue. I really like the bright colors of this card, it is very different from the green one in the earlier posting.
I also decided to decorate the inside of my sample because Heather will send all the samples off to the local Ronald McDonald House.
I used the 3 snowflake stamp again with the Blushing Bride ink and a verse from the Occasional Quotes Hostess set.
I I really like the end result and hope everyone enjoys putting it together.
....I will post my swap card later so check back in a day or so.

Thanks for visiting!

Quick and Simple DSP Cards

Here are some really quick and simple cards I made with the Greenhouse Gala DSP. Only the sentiment is stamped.

The base is Pear Pizzazz and I used the Beautiful Wings embosslit for the butterflies. Then the Modern label and Word Window punches to create the sentiment. The stamped sentiment is from Just Believe.

Below are two more using the same basic supplies. The stamped sentiment is from the Because I Care hostess set.

Hope you have a great weekend!

Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge 138!

Well, I've had fun doing another challenge this week and.......I finally used the shimmer paint as a glittering agent.

WOW! It's amazing! The picture doesn't do the real thing justice.

You can find the sketch for this challenge at:
http://technostamper.blogspot.com/2010/09/monday-lunchtime-sketch-challenge-138.html

For this card I broke out some new products from the new Holiday Mini.... Deck the Halls paper, the new decorative strip called Northern Frost, new Glimmer Basics brads, Bright Christmas Stampset and the new Bigz die; Scalloped squares Duo.
I did shorten up the largest square from this die by repositioning it on the die and running it through the BigShot again.

Ink is Chocolate chip and the mini brads are retired.

The cardstock is Always Artichoke and Very Vanilla; I also used the Snowflake die #2.

For the shimmer I filled a small hand sanitizer spray bottle(approx 1 oz in size) with Alcohol to about 3/4 full and then filled the rest with the Champagne Mist Shimmer paint.I placed the snowflakes and the DSP layer in a paint box and sprayed. It was dry with in seconds and "Beautiful!"
Hope you enjoyed. Thanks for stopping by!

A week of Birthday celebrations!

My birthday was yesterday and it seems that it has been going on for a whole week. I think we are finally done with this. LOL We don't normally make a big fuss about birthdays but I guess as it was my 50th my family decided to make it a big deal. Last weekend we had a "family BBQ" as my sister and her family were home from London, Ont and my son and his family were home from Montreal. It turned out to be a celebration/surprise birthday party for me and my uncle; who will turn 50 next month. After the party/BBQ my sister had made arrangements with my employer for me to have Monday off and we went to a B&B for the night, for a "girls only" time, along with my daughter-in-law, my niece and my 5 yo grand daughter.
We had a great time!
Thanks girls!

Yesterday my employer told me to take the day; as I'm usually on call; and she would man the phones. My mother decided we all needed to go out to dinner to celebrate again so we had a lovely seafood dinner and then some visiting time after before my sister and her family head back home tomorrow.

It's been a busy week with missing a day at work and trying to catch-up so not alot of stamping done; I'm also trying to organize and re-organize my stamp room so that makes it difficult to create when everything is in a mess.

I did manage to make a couple of cards as thanks yous and also an anniversary card for my sister and her husband so I will get these posted later today or tomorrow as soon as I get them downloaded from my camera.

Thanks for stopping by!

Hope you are enjoying your holiday weekend!
