Wonderful Weekend!

Well, the weekend was wonderful and fun! Not much sleep though I think I got more than most. The weekend was a crop hosted by my upline, Evelyn Wood. I don't do much/any scrapbooking and that is what everyone was doing there. I had no idea as I had never been to a crop before. Ha! Ha!
I took some tools, two stamp sets ( Vintage Vogue and With All My Heart) and some white, black and Bermuda Bay cards stock with me, as well as the new SAB paper pack Welcome Neighbour. All my stuff fit into the Big Shot Doctor's bag; most of the others looked like they had moved everything they owned into the hall where we were staying. There were 20 of us so there were lots of paper and tools everywhere.
There were a two Make and Takes which I did and an amazing goody bag; I knew ahead of time there would be a card swap so I figured I would work on those there as well.
This is one of the cards I came up with with limited the supplies I had.
It was really fun and challenging at the same time.

This card is using the new SAB paper pad( three different designs), the Butterfly Wings Emboslit, Bermuda Bay and Whisper White card stock, the large oval and the scalloped oval punch, the sentiment comes from the Vintage Vogue Set in the new Occaisions Mini Catalogue.

I will show you more as the days go on over the next little while so stay tuned.

Giant Acrylic Clothes pins

I found these giant acrylic clothes pins at our local dollar store and decided I could alter them with paper.
Well this is what I came up with and they are very cute/pretty if I do say so myself.
They came in different colors but I picked up the clear ones and they measure 6 inches long by an inch and 3/8.

There is a space on the back side of these so the DSP just slides into it and I secured it with some mini glue dots ; I then just added punches and ribbon to decorate them.
For the pink and red one I used the new Sending Love Specialty paper and the With All My Heart stamp set, the new Extra Large Flower punch, Pretty in Pink Epoxy Brads and the Beautiful Wings embosslet all from the new Occaisions Mini catalogue.I added a Real Red gross grain ribbon bow( I haven't got the new satin ribbon yet, but it is on it's way), there is also some dazzling diamonds on the red areas of the flower at the top but the picture doesn't show this.




The second one; I used the Tea party DSP from the IBC, I stamped the scalloped circle from the Vintage Labels set in the SAB catalogue in Certainly Celery then added a Cameo Coral mini flourish and a basic black "friends" from the Tiny Tags stamp set in the Occaisions Mini, a celery ribbon from the retired SAB from last yeat and a tiny tag "for you" punched with the new punch in the new mini was tied on with a small piece of linen thread.

FINALLY! I got to play....

Well I finally found the time and my back has permitted me to play for a bit today. I've had some of the new items from the new mini catalogue just crying for me to come play with them.
This card is one of the results!

I think this should fit the sketch for the Stamping 411 challenge as well.

I really like how it looked in the end.

It uses a bashful blue card base, I played some with the new pinking hearts punches; will have to practice alot more with these; on Melon Mambo cardstock, the background is DSP from the SAB paper pack, Welcome Neighbor, I LOVE the new Extra Large Two Step Bird punch, this is also from the SAB paper pack. Melon Mambo ribbon and the sentiment comes from one of the new stamp sets; Well Scripted. Hope you like it!

I also have to say that I love the new clear mount stamps and am sooo happy that SU has finally gone this way. The storage system for these is so great as well, much more efficient use of precious space. :-)

I did make a few more things that I will share with you later in the week.

Hi everyone, I'm so sorry there hasn't been a post for a month or so. I was away for the holidays and since we've been back my back has been acting up.
That'll teach me to take a vacation!
I can't sit or stand very well for any length of time. It was getting better and I did manage to get my craft room straightened up a bit yesterday and then last night it went again and I'm back to popping muscle relaxants and pain pills and spending time with my heating pad. I will get something posted as soon as I can.....thanks for your patience.

I have some new toys to play with and am chomping at the bit to get at them, soon.

Glittery Ornaments

I've been seeing these beautiful ornaments posted and just had to do some. They were really easy and took verylittle time as well. The pictures are not the best but I never have professed to be a photographer, so I will appologise in advance for them.

These square/cubed ornaments were a challenge to get the ink to cover evenly but they did. I used the Current Christmas Rub-ons in the Holiday mini catalogue and also the retired ones from the sale on SU's site.

The colors are clockwise......retired Pacific Point, and blue glitter that I had on-hand, Tangerine Tango and copper colored glitter, Kiwi Kiss and green glitter and Ridinghood Red and red glitter. I was so impressed with myself.







These flatish round ornaments are using clockwise from the left....... Crushed Curry ink and gold glitter, Bermuda bay ink and green glitter, pink pirouette and silver glitter, and my personal favorite, Mambo Melon and a brown glitter.






I will not be posting again until after the holiday; as I said I am away, hopefully finding some heat and sun.

Christmas Tea

We will be away for Christmas and so I made these Christmas Tea holders to send with my mother to my sister's on Christmas. I really liked this idea found on Splitcoaststampers. http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/

They were simple and quick to make, especially last minute.

Buggy Birthday

Our grand daughter Mia turned 5 this year and she was having a party with a bug theme......this is the card I sent her to go along with this theme. It uses the Large scalloped circle Bigz die, scallop circle punch, the 3/4 inch circle punch. The stamp set is the "Lovebug" hostess level 1 set from the current catalogue. Stampin'Up card stock in Real Red and Basic Black, ink is Whisper White Craft ink. I saw this idea on another blog and had saved the picture for inspiration, or for when it may be needed.
Sorry I haven't posted much lately, it's been busy and I seem to have come down with a cold and have had days where I felt very tired after work, so very little has been done. I hope it passes soon, so I can get caught up with the things that have been put on hold.

Animal Stories Birthday Card

Our nephew was turning five, he's all boy. This is the card I made for him with the elephant from the Animal Stories set. I Stamped the image in Old Olive then stamped again and again creating less vivid images. Sentiment is from Sincere Salutations. DSP is Tall Tales topped with some Chocolate Chip CS then the image. I put it all on an Old Olive card base and tied it up with the Old Olive ribbon from the Holiday Mini catalogue in the Ribbon Originals collection. Three 1/2 inch circles were punched from Old Olive CS and a Chocolate Chip brad was put in the centre of each, these were then placed down the left side of the main image. I finished it off by stamping off the elephant and putting an image on the envelope and on the inside of the card as well.

Sorry for the light glare at the top of the picture....this is a punch organizer that my Dad made for me.....I love it. I currently holds all my SU punches and all my Big Shot stuff. Absolutely great as it's now all at my fingertips.

Flocked Treasure

Seems like forever since I was here to post, so sorry for that ..... but I have lots to share over the next few days.

Our demo group was having a Yankee swap of hand made 3D items for our Christmas get -together( it was so yummy....Turkey, Ham and all the trimmings) the Yankee awap was fun too!

This is the project I took to swap....

I had picked up this cute wooden box at a local dollar store and knew I would use it some day, so.......

I used the Flocked red paper from the Christmas Cocoa DSP pkg and covered it. It was very easy to do; cutting the DSP the same width as the box and wrapping it around, adhering it with Tombow multi purpose adhesive. Then I thought to sponge the edges with Real Red ink. Next I used my crop-a-dile and punch three holes through the DSP exactly where the elastic cord and wooden knob/button was on the original box. Next I inserted three red circle fire brads into the holes. I needed to create a fastener for the flapof the box so I took the metallic elastic cord from the Mini catalogue and crocheted a silver chain. I tied the ends to the two brads on the bottom side of the box and stretched it up and over the brad on the top, perfect!

On the inside of the box I lined it with the striped DSP from the same Christmas Cocoa pkg.

The treasure on the inside is a "Washer Necklace/pendant" created using the same DSP's and Crystal Effects. It was really beautiful, if I do say so myself. It was reversable with the Flocked paper on one side and..........

The striped paper on the back; the satin cording is just looped around the washer so it can be easily reversed.

To create the pendant I went to the hardware store and purchased several washers, very inexpensively. At home I matched up the SU circle punches with the washers and punched the shapes from the DSP. These were adhered to the washer using a small amt of Crystal Effects; and when dry I used a sanding block and sanded the edges. The centre was sanded with a small metal file I have for putting DSP onto intricate chipboard cutouts. Once I was happy with this I placed the washer on a cutting mat and applied a thick layer of Crystal Effects, let dry over night or longer and then turned it over and applied it to the back side of the washer. Let dry again for a good 12-24 hrs. I went back and applied another coat of the crystal effects to both sides because I really wanted it to have a bevelled, rounded facade. After I was sure it was dry and hard, 2 days later I took a length of satin cord and looped it through the washer and just tied it in a knot at the ends.

Once I was ready to pkg the jewel I took a piece of Real Red CS and scored it on all sides then cut diagonal slits in the upper corners and punched 1/8th inch holes at the end of the slits for the cording to it in them and inserted it into the box.

Next I decided it didn't need to be wrapped so I made a tag from the Christmas punch set and tied it onto the pkg after wrapping it with a white organza ribbon and bow from SU.

I think it was a hit! .

Wings of Friendship Note cards gift pack

This cute little note card set was from our summer Upline meeting, it showcases the new In- colors and is also a great gift for someone special. We used the In-Color Stampin'write markers to color the stamp( from Wings of Friendship, a hostess set in the Idea Book and Catalogue) and the stamped the image on the circle of Whisper white CS they were then adhered to a 6"x3" piece of In-color CS scored at 3" with a small coordinating piece of In-color ribbon behind it. These were placed in a clear envelope along with envelopes. The envelpoe was adhered to a piece of In-color CS 4"x6" or so that has been scored and folded at 2"on one end and then scalloped. We then tied it closed with a piece of Ic-Color polkadotted ribbon for a cute and very easy gift.

Bag in a box

I think this is what these are called....I love the look of them and they are so cute for small gifts or candy. They are created from a small box on the bottom the distance around should be around 11.5 inches total so you have a 1/2 inch overlap. You then take a 12x8-9 inch piece of DSP and wrap around the box lining it up at the bottom. I then took a strip of cardstock and used the border punches to create a decorative strip and again lined it up along the bottom of the box and wrapped it around the DSP(I like the narrower border better than the wider one). Punch out 2 round tab punches and fold in the center the place centrally on either side of the bag top to create a holder for the ribbon; try to align these so they are opposite each other. Punch a 1/4 inch hole just below the fold in each tab punch and thread a matching ribbon through and tie.
Decorate the bag as you would like. This worked up really quick once I decided on the DSP and color combo.
We're still under construction so I can't find anything...it all seems to get piled on my work table and then when I do get time to play I have to organize, soon to be done I hope.

Seasonal Baskets

I can't beleive this week has flown by so fast, I don't know where it went. We've been in the middle of having new windows and a couple of patio doors put in as well as having the house insulated and new siding so have been very busy.Of course there are always glitches....the sills under the back part of the house were rotting when they removed the siding so they had to be replaced, this meant the deck at the back had to be partially removed...ugh!! Oh well it'll soon be done and we'll have a lovely warm "new" house this winter.

The picture above is of a few baskets I made from 12x12 DSP( , you score each side at 4 inches and cut into the score line on two sides at the 4 and 8 inch score lines. The handle is made from a 1.5 x12 inch piece of DSP that has been punched with the eyelet border punch on both of the long sides. the fold up the two cut squares to meet half way into the middle square. These are secured with a brad through all layers and the handle as well. It takes about 5-10 minutes to make start to finish and it's really cute. These are great for holding candy, treats or light weight articles. They can be made smaller by usung paper 9x9 and scoring 3 inches on all sides or even 6x6 scoring 2 inches on each side.
